Dr. Vimal Kumar is a librarian who works at Mahatma Gandhi University in the Kottayam district of Kerala state, India. He frequently speaks about scholarly communication, Open Access publishing, and the Free Software movement. He has obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative English, a Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science from the University of Kerala, a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications, and a PhD from Mahatma Gandhi University. Apart from writing eight books, Dr. Vimal Kumar has also published papers and articles in various scholarly publications. He was born in Vazhappally village in the Changanassery taluk of Kottayam district.
